Foundational Course

The Virtual Assistant Course For Disabled & Neurodivergent People is a self-paced online course that will take you through the necessary steps to setting up your own virtual assistance business, the skills you need to take on assistant work and an introduction to commonly used programs and adaptations you can make to suit your individual needs.

Created by a disabled person for disabled people, this course is built with access in mind, offering resources in a variety of formats to suit most needs from video recordings, written word documents, engaging visual PDFs and pre-built templates that are ready for your customisation.

Enrolment opens twice a year. After the enrolment month ends, you will receive full access to the course materials, community group and other benefits, and maintain access for 12 months.

Foundational Course Details

Module 1 - The Basics

This module will introduce you to the very basics of becoming a virtual assistant. We start by claiming your needs and declaring your highest vision – that is, the what and the why you decided to take this step to explore the world of VA. We’ll also cover some practical tools on setting up your workspace, managing your workflow and establishing your work boundaries.

Module 2 - Brand

As a sole trader or business owner with a service based business, spending the time to develop a brand strategy can go a long way in giving your marketing and services a cohesive look and feel. This module will cover how to choose a niche, conduct competitive research, develop a hero client persona, and support you to establish your vision, values and mission, and write your base brand script and identity.

Module 3 - Business Development

Discover the base requirements for setting up a business within Australia, including how to price your services, defining your customer journey, and obligations as a business owner for contracts, tax and insurance.

Module 4 - Systems, Processes and Automations

In this module we’ll cover some guides on how to use common and effective tools and platforms, along with how to leverage AI in your role, how to onboard a client and client management tools, tips and templates. This module will provide guides in multiple formats for different access needs, and we’ll share tips and tricks on how to utilise your unique skillset.

Module 5 - Marketing

Marketing your VA business is the key to securing new clients and building a reputation as a creditable virtual assistant. In this module we cover setting up some of your brand channels, different ways to market your services outside of social media channels, the type of content you can create and templates for tracking what and where you market, and the analytic results.

Do I need to be disabled / neurodivergent / identify as a minority group to do this course?

No! This course is inclusive to EVERYbody. Whether you are disabled, able-bodied, a member of the LGBTQIA+ community or anyone else, you are welcome here. 

What makes this course different from other virtual assistant programs?

Adapt Virtual Assistance is built to include the extra resources and accessibility members of disabled and neurodivergent communities may require. While this includes providing multiple formats of the content, it also considers the needs of the community as virtual assistants. You’ll find through-out the course content we suggest adaptations you can make to suit your needs whether that be vision impairment aids, how to create a work environment suitable to chronic illness, what programs can help you remember important deadlines and so much more.
